Bayfield is a small town of under 3000 people located about 19 miles out of Durango, CO. Our home is actually located in the outer areas of Bayfield, on a private road with only one other house on it. We started looking for homes in 2017 and when Paul saw this house on Zillow I didn’t even want to go look at it because it looked so old in the pictures. It was February when we saw it and there was a ton of snow still everywhere along the road up to the house. When we came along the last curve to the house and I finally saw it, I knew this house was going to be ours. Paul laughed at me as we got out of the car and went inside to look at it because my mind was already made up. We had looked at nicer, bigger homes but in my mind it didn’t matter as I was sure this was the one. Three months later and a lot of stressful days we flew back to Durango to pick up the keys of our new home. The previous owners had used it as a vacation rental home so it came fully furnished and we were able to stay in our new home those first days. My dream had come true and I finally owned a home near Durango. The first morning we woke up in our new home I got up early and walked to the bay windows in the kitchen and saw a heard of elk and knew without a doubt this was all meant to be!
